In the business of life, I always want to make sure I’m taking time to refresh my heart when needed, so I can keep strong. So tonight, after a busy season of  planning a move out of the country, work, freelance, etc…. I took a “time out” and the place my heart found delight in was by the water. The evening summer wind licked the waves with extra force. The view was perfect. As my feet rested on the dash of the vehicle and the sun shone in, I read “Lioness Arising” by Lisa Bevere. A specific passage resonated.

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rythyms of grace. I won’t lay anything heave or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

~  “The unforced rythyms of grace are the natural outflow and response to the supernatural working of God within our spirits.” Lisa Bevere

I felt like Jesus reminded me to always take the time to rest in Him. That He really is, and always must be, the centre of my life no matter where I live or what I do. He IS my life. And when I keep Him the centre (which He so graciously helps me with!!) then He will help me to walk in unforced rythyms of grace. I know I can force rythyms at times – relationships, ideas, adventures…. Its easy to get caught up in what we think appears to be right. But God wants us to walk unforced, unstriving, resting in Him.

And tonight, boy did I rest in Him. Delights. So thankful for the little moments that make a big difference!

unforced rhythms of grace – I love that concept. You are so right, I can and do force them sometimes. “But God wants us to walk, unforced, unstriving, resting in Him.” Beautifully said. Thank you!
